Game Recap: Patriots at Philly
(ftw.usatoday.com)
The Patriots continue their preseason with another win, but this time in dominating fashion. The talk all week was about the QB battle between Cam Newton and Mac Jones and the boys did not disappoint. Cam got the start and went a strong 8/9 with 109 yards which included a nice crossing route TD to Jakobi Meyers. Mac played for about two quarters and went 13/19 for 146 yards which included a very long touchdown drive which started backed up against his own goal line.
The Pats got started with a bad snap to Eagles QB Joe Flacco, which he then tried to recover but was stripped by Matthew Judon and recovered by former Eagle Jalen Mills. Two straight hand offs to Damien Harris resulted in six, and the Pats never looked back.
Running Back JJ Taylor was easily the biggest name in the game tonight, as he had 12 carries for 93 yards and a TD on the ground and 3 receptions for 18 yards. Rhamondre Stevenson picked up where he left off and had 15 carries for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
The defense stepped up huge tonight, pitching a game shutout and bringing down two interceptions on the night.
Overall it was a really great night of Patriot football, one that makes it real exciting to be a fan. Cam and Mac both looked great, a lot of bubble guys really stepped up tonight to try and earn their spots and the defense just looked phenomenal.
The Pats will stay in the NFC East with a Sunday night matchup with the New York Giants for their preseason finale.
