Patriots Performers of the Game (Week 3)
(Gillettestadium.com)
The Patriots cruise to a 3-0 start after a pretty easy win against a debilitated New York Jets team 30-14.
Both offense and defense continue to look like the best in the league, and if it weren't for a couple of dumb mistakes, New England would have earned its second shutout victory in a row.
Tom Brady
Very rarely will you not find Tom on the standout performers of the game after a victory. Tom continued his dominance through the air with 306 yards and 2 TDs on 28/42 passing. He connected with his two most trusted receivers in Edelman and PD13 for his pair of scores. Tom now sits near the top of the league with 8 total touchdowns and 0 interceptions after 3 weeks. He will find himself in a different situation next week for sure with a matchup against the unbeaten Buffalo Bills who bring a stout and tough defense to the table.
Jules, Josh, and Phil
Antonio Brown who? You're out of your mind if you think losing AB made our shot at 7 harder to reach. This receiving corps is stacked. Edelman, Gordon, and Dorsett combined for 19 catches and 198 yards today. That's 65% of Brady's passing yards. Dorsett has also caught 31 of his last 31 regular season targets. This dude is so slept on. Yeah, depth chart wise he's our third option, but he sneakily leads the team in pretty much every major receiving statistical category so far. He's only been on the team a couple years but him and Brady almost have an Edelman-esque chemistry.
Jamie Collins
Another big day on defense for the linebacker. Last week he recorded 5 tackles, half a sack, 2 picks, and he even took one of those interceptions to the crib for 6. Today, he lead the team in tackles with 7, and recorded 2 more sacks. He also almost recorded his third interception in as many games but the ball slipped through his hands at the line of scrimmage.
Buffalo don't know whats comin' for them.
