As expected, Trey Flowers will be playing elsewhere next season.
The #Lions are expected to sign another former #Patriot, this time pass-rusher Trey Flowers, source confirms (as @AdamSchefter reported). It’s a 5-year deal. Should be more than $16M or $17M.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 11, 2019
The Patriots' defensive end will sign a five-year free agent deal with the Detroit Lions, according to multiple reports. Flowers will once again be paired up with Matt Patricia, now the Lions head coach, and general manager Bob Quinn, a former member of New England's front office.
In four seasons with the Patriots, Flowers totaled 21 sacks, five forced fumbles and 59 quarterback hits. He is coming off the best season of his career in 2018, as he garnered 7.5 sacks, two passes defended, three forced fumbles and 20 quarterback hits.
The Patriots will receive a compensatory third-round pick as a result of Flowers' deal.
