Patriots release DE Adrian Clayborn
Steve Mitchell/USA TODAY Sports |
With Clayborn now an unrestricted free agent, New England created about $4 million in cap space. It appears Clayborn asked to be released.
Thank you @Patriots for my time with the organization. I gained so much respect for how you do things and win championships. It’s done the right way through hard work. Thank you for granting my release. I’m ready for this next chapter.— Adrian Clayborn (@AJaClay) March 15, 2019
In his lone season with New England, Clayborn helped establish a Patriots pass rush that was, at times, dominant. He had 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and 13 QB hits with the Patriots, though he was benched for the final two games of the regular season.
