Ivan Fears praises James White's knowledge of football, says he's second only to TB12

James White is doing something right.

The New England Patriots’ fifth-year running back received very high praise from coach Ivan Fears on Tuesday.

“Exceptional instincts,” said Fears, the running backs coach. “And his knowledge of the game is probably second only to Tom Brady. He’s the one guy that works more than anybody else as far as studying and preparing and being ready.”

Even the Patriots’ quarterback himself is impressed with White.

“I don’t think you could ask any more of a teammate than what James provides us and the trust that everyone has in him,” Brady said after the team’s preseason win against the Philadelphia Eagles. “I feel like he never makes a mistake, and it’s pretty amazing to have that.”

Brady and White are two perfect examples of the fact that football IQ and knowledge of the game are just as important as your skillset. The two seem to be on a good page and have strong connection just in time for the start of the season.
