Patriots add to offensive line with acquisition of Trent Brown

The Patriots added depth to their offensive line today by acquiring offensive tackle Trent Brown and the No. 143 in the NFL Draft from the San Francisco 49ers for the No. 95 pick.
49ers are trading OT Trent Brown and pick number 143 overall to the New England Patriots in exchange for pick number 95 overall, per @FieldYates and me. The deal is pending a physical.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 27, 2018
He is billed as a prolific pass-blocking tackle, but is coming off season-ending shoulder surgery and the 49ers were concerned about his weight, which is part of the reason he became expendable. San Fran was reportedly looking to ship him to Denver for a second-round pick yesterday while they drafted Notre Dame offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey with the No. 9 pick.
Though his contract will expire at the end of the 2018 season, Brown comes fairly cheap, as he carries a base salary of $1.9 million.
