The Patriots were reportedly too late with their offer for Michael Bennett

The Patriots were one of a few teams in on former Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett, but they were apparently too late to the game.
By the time New England sent an offer to Seattle, the Hawks already had an agreement in place with the Eagles for Bennett. The Pats reportedly had a better on the table for Bennett, as they were going to give up a third and a seventh-round pick to get him.
Philly only gave up a fifth-round pick and wide receiver Marcus Johnson.
Patriots came in with a bigger offer for Michael Bennett after Seahawks and Eagles had basically agreed, per @RapSheet on @NFLTotalAccess. Seattle and Philly “pressed pause,” then ultimately made the deal.— Chris Wesseling (@ChrisWesseling) March 8, 2018
