NFL investigating Steelers assistant coach for allegedly assaulting Pats fan
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the National Football League is investigating Steelers tight ends coach James Daniel for allegedly assaulting and verbally abusing a Patriots fan during last night's season opener.
On the way to the Pittsburgh locker room just before halftime, Daniel was seen allegedly kicking the fan in the back of the leg and verbally abusing him in front of others. By the time Daniel had made it back upstairs to the booth with the second half about to start, police and NFL security officials were waiting for him. Schefter adds that Daniel then began to shout at the police officer in front of others.
The 62-year-old Daniel is currently in his 12th season with the Steelers organization. He has over 20 years of NFL experience, as he's also spent time with the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons.
