Winslow Townson - USA Today Sports |
The Patriots just finished their third practice of the 2015 training camp, this time in pads! Wanna know what was going on without having to go through your whole twitter news feed? Well we did that for you and put them all in one convenient place.
Check out what fans and reporters were saying about today's practice.
Look who's back at practice:
LeGarrette Blount is off NFI. He just walked onto the field in pads. #Patriots— Derek Havens (@PatriotsHaven) August 1, 2015
Dominique Easley is off PUP. He is on the field in full uniform. #Patriots— Derek Havens (@PatriotsHaven) August 1, 2015
Its good to see Easley off the PUP list. It was concerning to see him start on it but it looks like the Patriots were just being cautious with him. Like usual.
Who wasn't there
#Patriots Flynn, Slater, LaFell, Cox, Green, Lynch, D Fletcher, C White, Wendell, Taylor, Hauptmann, Derby, Chr Jones,Branch didn't practice— Doug Kyed (@DougKyedNESN) August 1, 2015
Defense
Sheard looked great in 1 on 1 battles vs OL.— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) August 1, 2015
Jabaal Sheard had a great practice, did well in the goal line and one-on-one drills.— Erik Frenz (@ErikFrenz) August 1, 2015
Watched Dominique Easley blow past OT Marcus Cannon in 1-on-1 drills; took note because was curious if we'd see that type of explosion.— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 1, 2015
Dominique Easley just consistently beat Josh Kline in interior 3 on 3 drills. Very aggressive player— Goal Line Gazette (@PatsGazette) August 1, 2015
Malcolm Butler looked really good in coverage. Had a couple of impressive battles with Edelman.— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) August 1, 2015
Malcolm Butler had a pair of PBUs today. He started to shine when the pads went on last year; seems the same is happening this year.— Erik Frenz (@ErikFrenz) August 1, 2015
See last tweet for extended camp notes, but biggest takeaway through 3 days is Malcolm Butler's performance. Highly competitive each play.— Kevin Duffy (@KevinRDuffy) August 1, 2015
In full-pads goal-line running drill, defense w/ 3 stops on 4 plays. LeGarrette Blount w/ lone TD. Spirited banter among players. #Patriots— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 1, 2015
Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich have been doing a lot of standing up on the edge the last few days. #Patriots— Derek Havens (@PatriotsHaven) August 1, 2015
Offense
Brady was 16 of 17 in team drills today and the incompletion was a bad Dion Lewis drop.— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 1, 2015
Midway through Day 3 of training camp, Tom Brady took second reps behind Garoppolo for the first time this summer.— Doug Kyed (@DougKyedNESN) August 1, 2015
First-team reps for Jimmy in two of four periods. He was 10 of 14 overall and 4 of 7 with starters.— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 1, 2015
Nice day for Travaris Cadet, too. Hooked up with Garoppolo for a long TD. Those two connected four times.— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 1, 2015
Garoppolo made some nice connections with Cadet. FWIW, also building nice cohesiveness with Brandon Gibson.— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) August 1, 2015
Great day for Blount. He was far and away the best RB on the ground and made a couple plays catching the ball in positional. Shook Collins.— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 1, 2015
Blount just shook Collins pretty good. Juked Sheard earlier in a drill too. He looks good on his first day. #Patriots— Derek Havens (@PatriotsHaven) August 1, 2015
Shaq Mason is having a really good practice. Just pancaked Zach Moore.— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 1, 2015
Shaq Mason during interior three on three drills. Absolutely took out Jonathan Freeny— Goal Line Gazette (@PatsGazette) August 1, 2015
Aaron Dobson with an impressive leaping catch over Darryl Roberts. Marshall on Marshall crime!— Erik Frenz (@ErikFrenz) August 1, 2015
Scene-setter: After a play in which offense had ball stripped, Bill Belichick called offense together in huddle, and then sent them on a lap— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 1, 2015
Who Stood out
Julian Edelman, LeGarrette Blount, Eric Martin, Shaq Mason and Jordan Richards stood out in Day 3 of training camp.— Doug Kyed (@DougKyedNESN) August 1, 2015
Injuries
On injury front, reserve OT Kevin Hughes appeared to hurt left shoulder. Could cause roster movement if serious as it thins depth. #Patriots— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 1, 2015

And just because its fun to laugh at the Bills
Bills QBs and WRs struggling mightily in routes against air. This is supposed to be the easy part of practice...— Mike Rodak (@mikerodak) August 1, 2015
Overall it sounds like the Patriots had a very good practice!
