With rumors swirling for the last several months, the Patriots have finally decided to bring in former Colts WR Reggie Wayne for a physical in hopes of signing him to a contract.
Former Colts WR Reggie Wayne arrived in New England last night and is taking a physical with the Patriots today, per league sources.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 23, 2015
Wayne was in New England last night, the day after training camp ended and before Brandon Gibson was injured, making his signing a likely planned event for some time. He is taking the physical today.
Wayne arrives in NE the day after training camp ends. No coincidence there.— Mike Loyko (@NEPD_Loyko) August 23, 2015
If he was in NE last night this is unrelated to Gibson injury, as he was injured at like 11 last night— Mike Loyko (@NEPD_Loyko) August 23, 2015
The Patriots currently have one open roster spot available, which if the Patriots were to sign Wayne, would bring the roster back up to 90 players.

As I have noted before, Reggie Wayne was a natural fit for the Patriots, and could provide another weapon for Tom Brady. With injuries piling up, including Brian Tyms likely headed to IR and Brandon Gibson potentially out for the near future, Wayne makes a perfect addition in a time where the Patriots badly need wide receivers.
