Shane Vereen clarifies his "step up" comment
A day after he signed a 4 year $16 million dollar contract, he said this:
Boston Herald
(I made this) decision with my family,” Vereen said. “At the end of the day, I wanted to make a decision that was right for us, right for them, and this is a great organization. I was fortunate enough to play in New England with another great organization. This is not a step down; if anything, it is a step up. I am looking forward to the opportunity, and I am enjoying being in New York.
Of course he took some flack for the comments but took to twitter today to clear up what he meant.
I can't thank the Kraft family and the Patriots organization enough for everything that they have done for me and my family.

I MUST thank #PatsNation as well.. The support over my time with the Pats was incredible and truly showed me the power of a great fan base!

Lastly...This is a huge "step up" for me, my career and especially my family in regards to a great contract. Lets not make this a big deal

Vereen was wise to quickly clarify his comments and he is right, going to the Giants for that kind of money is a definitely a step up financially.
He was an instrumental player for the Patriots and we wish him well with his new team. Just not when they play each other this season and God forbid if they ever play the Giants in the Super Bowl again.
