C.J. Spiller signs with the New Orleans Saints
The Saints continue to make moves, this time signing a player that the Patriots had their eyes on.
Former Buffalo Bills runningback C.J. Spiller.
Saints reached agreement with former Bills RB CJ Spiller. Saints backfield getting crowded: Spiller, Mark Ingram, Khiry Robinson.

Spiller is injury prone, but very fast and very talented. He would've been a perfect replacement for Shane Vereen in a third down back role and could even fill in on special teams in a kick returner role.
The 27 year old has spent his entire career as a member of the crowded Buffalo backfield. He was seen as a bust, being taken 9th overall in the 2010 draft, but the decision to draft him in the first place was a headscratcher by Buffalo. At the time, the team already had Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson. They would, of course, later trade Lynch to the eventual Super Bowl champion Seahawks and try to work Spiller into the mix more. That didn't work out as hoped.
Last season was perhaps Spiller's worst, as he only played in nine games.
As Schefter noted, he joins another stuffy backfield in the bayou. The deal with the Saints is reportedly for four years.
