McCourty to critics: If we win, kiss the ring
CSNNE |
Per CSNNE:
"If I have a ring on my finger?" McCourty asked. "Not at all. Not at all. Let 'em look at the ring."
To win it, McCourty knows the Patriots will have to contain Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. The Patriots secondary will have to stay close to Seattle's receivers, McCourty said, since they're dangerous long after the snap thanks to Wilson's scrambling ability.
“It’s going to be tough," McCourty said. "It’s going to be a task that involves the guys up front and the linebackers and then, at times, you have secondary involved on a blitz. The key in that is going to be doing your job. You’re going to need the guys up front to try to contain him, keeping him in the pocket. We’re going to need to stick our receivers on the back end because, if we get all 11 guys worrying about him scrambling, rush yards won’t matter because he’ll have a huge day passing. We just all have to do our jobs."
That's the spirit, Devin. If the Patriots win, it will be their 4th in the last 15 years, but it'll be the first for most of these Pats players, except for Tom Brady (3) and Vince Wilfork (1). If the Patriots win, it will cement their legacy as one of the most dominant franchises in history. Hopefully, they get the job done and shut up ESPN and the like.
