Celebrities bust out funny bits about deflategate
John Hodgman appearing on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart |
Since Deflategate has become a bit of a joke, with the NFL not even having the psi measurements of the balls before the game, late night has been performing sketches about the overblown controversy. Jimmy Kimmel got to the root of the problem by revealing the true perpetrator of the scandal.
Last night on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart poked fun at Brady and Belichick and the scandal.
The segment was a good bit, but one thing bothers me. It wasn't how Stewart essentially said that the Patriots cheated, despite any actual evidence against the team. What bothered me was the Hodgmen segment. I love John Hodgman. I got to see him perform live with Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schaal and it was the best comedy show I've ever been to. I'm just sick and tired of the whole "I don't follow sports so I'm going to pretend to mix up the terminology of different sports" joke. That sthick is old and it is barely amusing. The joke did not bother me as a sports fan, it bothered me as a fan of comedy. They might as well have dragged out a dead horse and hit it with a baseball bat while calling the bat a football stick.
