Packers win over Patriots meant a lot to them

If you heard the Packers say this was just another game after they dealt the Patriots their first loss since late September, they lied according to Pro Football Talk.

Per PFT:

“This was a big one,” Packers defensive back Micah Hyde said after they beat the Patriots, via Jason Wilde of ESPNWisconsin.com. “We kind of told you guys earlier in the week that it was just another game. We were lying. I bet you probably knew that already, but we were lying. It was a huge game. And we were fortunate enough to get that win.”

According to PFT, Aaron Rodgers posted a quarterback rating of 112.6 (24-38, 368 yards and 2 touchdowns) to accomplish something that no one has done since Alex Smith in Week 4: Beat Tom Brady. It was a great performance from Rodgers, make no mistake about it. w

Here's what Rodgers had to say about the win:
“It was a good win for us,” Rodgers said. “We had some struggles in the red zone, kicked some field goals, but the defense came up big when we needed it and we just had enough offense there to win.

“Yeah, we’re happy about the win, obviously an excited locker room. But we have some big goals and we’re getting into December football now with the chance to have everything right in front of us. We’re going to celebrate this win tonight and move on.”

Rodgers' performance led the Packers to a victory in what many (me included) were billing as a potential Super Bowl preview, and rightly so. Even after losing, the Patriots sit at 9-3, and still control their own destiny for the #1 seed in the AFC, and the Packers could well be a #1 seed in the NFC at 9-3. More than that, both teams are playing really good football right now (yes, despite the Patriots losing) and both look like favorites to come out of their respective conferences right now. There are 4 more games to play, and the Patriots' remaining schedule includes 3 straight games against division opponents.

Let me say, though, that I would not complain if we do see a Pats-Packers rematch.
