Jets avoid boos by not introducing Geno Smith

Jets apparently concerned that Geno Smith would have been booed by the home crowd in introductions. Again, sad. #nyj

12 offensive players were announced, but not the starting quarterback. Smith said afterwards he decided he wanted to run out with the rest of the team. The New York Jets guessed incorrectly that the crowd would boo Geno Smith. There were as many Dolphins fans in the stadium as Jets supporters.
Why would a Miami fan boo Geno Smith?
The Rex Ryan game plan was solid. The Jets would allow QB Geno Smith to hand off 49 times to seven different backs and receivers, and keep it four times for himself. Running backs, Chris Johnson and Chris Ivory would handle the bulk of the carries in rushing for 167 yards. At 5.6 yards per rush, 277 yards on the ground and 33 minutes in time of possession, it was a brilliant strategy and upper management would surely take notice.
Steve Serby, NYPost:
They may as well call him Ge-No Throw today, because in a league where the big boys drive Lamborghinis, Rex Ryan strapped Geno Smith into a horse and buggy and instructed him to arrive at the intersection of Ground and Pound.
“I think we took enough shots,” Ge-No Throw said.
Smith would pass only 8 times with four completions for 42 yards prior to the two minute warning in the fourth quarter. The Miami defense had eight men on the line when the Jets had one runner in the backfield, and nine up front when New York employed two ballcarriers.
The Miami Dolphins had newcomer, CB R.J. Stanford matched up against high priced Jets free agent, WR Eric Decker. Stanford was originally a seventh round pick of the Carolina Panthers. This was his second stint with the Dolphins, having been waived by the Cincinnati Bengals as well. Decker would be held to 18 yards on two receptions by a guy who was on his couch last week.
Not since Super Bowl VII has a QB thrown as few times as Geno Smith did on Monday night. The Miami Dolphins had QB Bob Griese throw only 11 times in their Super Bowl win over the Washington Redskins, 14-7 in completing their undefeated season. I am sure that Bob Griese was announced as the starter at QB.
While the New York Jets organization pulled one over on their fans by hiding Geno Smith, the loyal supporters are not fooled by the defensive genius, head coach Rex Ryan. The 2014 QB rating against the New York Jets' defense is 109.7. Peyton Manning is at 102.5 and Aaron Rodgers is at 102.4, and they rarely get to play against the Jets.
Only four more games to go until this is over. Minnesota, Tennessee and Miami are on the road. New England is a home game on December 21st.
Can the NFL use the blackout rule for away games, too?
