Darrelle Revis cries foul on Jordy Nelson's touchdown

Mike Reiss, ESPNBoston:
Revis revisits long TD pass. The Patriots had closed to 16-14 late in the second quarter when the Packers answered with a 45-yard catch-and-run touchdown by Jordy Nelson with 14 seconds remaining. It was a huge play in the game, and cornerback Darrelle Revis was in coverage. "I felt there was a push-off, but at the same time, I am not going to use that as an excuse," Revis said. "He made a great play. I have a lot of respect for Jordy, Aaron Rodgers and that whole receiver group." Safety Devin McCourty was also in position to bring Nelson down but couldn't, and McCourty said after the game that he has to do a better job getting Nelson to the ground in that situation.

34 seconds before halftime, it was an eight yard completed pass from Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers to WR Jordy Nelson. New England CB Darrelle Revis shoved Nelson out of bounds at the Patriots' 45 yard line. Next play was in the direction of Revis, but it was incomplete from Rodgers intended for Jordy Nelson. Following a Green Bay timeout, the third straight play targeted Darrelle Revis, and Rodgers hit Nelson on a slant pattern that went for a 45 yard TD.

Three straight plays in a 16 second span directed at Darrelle Revis, yet only three other plays his way for 59 minutes and 44 seconds. Jordy Nelson was targeted six times with two catches against Patriots' CB Darrelle Revis who allowed his first TD catch since Week 2. Revis could have his streak intact if his got some help from his friends.

From legendary Green Bay Packers' head coach Vince Lombardi, 'If a man is running down the street with everything you own, you won't let him get away. That's tackling.' From New England head coach Bill Belichick, ‘Winning favors the team that makes the fewest mistakes.’ Both of these great coaches know the games are generally decided on one or two plays. "Somebody has to win and somebody has to lose." These two generally choose the former.

There will be plenty of pushing and shoving in the next nine weeks as teams jockey for position. Green Bay WR Jordy Nelson cut in line yesterday to gain a competitive advantage. Was it a knockdown of Darrelle Revis or merely a slip? Patriots' players weren't discouraged. The road to the finish line still must travel through New England.

A rematch is an attempt to schedule a second match for or between. Nine weeks is a long time to wait.
