When former Patriots quarterback Ryan Mallet was traded to the Houston Texans before the start of the season, many thought it would be to contend for the starting job with Ryan Fitzpatrick.

After Fitzpatrick and the Texans have struggled in the first half of the season it just might be Mallet time. And Mallet knows it. He tweeted out Sunday night that he was ready to "Seize the opportunity" but then he quickly deleted the tweet.

Ryan clarified later that he wasn't talking about wanting the starting job but it was too late, the speculation of a quarterback change had already started. Coach Bill O'Brien wouldn't rule out a quarterback change.

I think we have to evaluate everything,” he said. “I don’t think you can always – and I’ve said this along – I don’t think you can look at one position and put all the blame on that.

“I think we have to look at, as far as what we’re doing offensively, we have to look at … who’s playing what, what positions they’re playing, how we’re getting the ball, how we’re playing at every position, including quarterback — we have to look at all of that.

The Houston Texas have a bye this week so they will have plenty of time to evaluate the quarterback position before their next game against the Cleveland Browns
