LeGarrette Blount released by Steelers

Former Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount's stint in Pittsburgh is over. On the heels of reports that Blount left the game early last night after not receiving a single carry, Blount has been released.

Reports indicate that Blount had become increasingly unhappy with his role, or lack of role, in the team's offense working behind Le'Veon Bell, who is having a tremendous season, peaking last night with a 33 carry, 204 yard performance during which LeGarette didn't see the field.

What was originally viewed as a dynamic one-two punch in the backfield with Bell and Blount; LeGarrette was underwhelming this season, accumulating 266 yards on 65 carries and two touchdowns. He also lost some crucial fumbles and struggled to punch it in at the goal-line, where he was getting the majority of his work. Additionally, he and Bell were arrested before the season started on marijuana charges.

For anyone thinking of a potential return to New England, I would not hold your breath given Jonas Gray's emergence.

It has been a tumultuous career for Blount, dating back to his college days. For now, he is unemployed.
