Greg Bedard calls Peyton Manning a 'wuss'
If Peyton Manning needed any sort of bulletin board material to work with for the rest of this season and/or the next time he goes up against the Patriots, he may have just gotten it in the form of Greg Bedard.
The MMQB.com columnist, speaking on the Felger and Mazz show yesterday, said that he thought Manning "wussed out."
I don't know if "wussed out" is the right phrase to use in this case, but I see where Bedard is coming from. Manning has been known to not show up or make critical mistakes in big games more often than not. He also missed some more throws than many have been used to seeing.
The Patriots defense did a very good job of dictating the pace of the game and forcing Manning to do things he wasn't comfortable doing. It was uncharacteristic of him to miss open receivers down the field like he did on Sunday, and while I agree that Manning did not completely show up for this game, he didn't play poorly. He finished with 438 yards, but some of that came in garbage time when it was clear the Patriots had the game locked up.
Of his two interceptions, only the one to Rob Ninkovich was his fault.

"I thought that Manning wussed out. I thought this was another Manning wuss-out game where the elements weren't what he wanted, he wasn't in a dome, the defense wasn't doing what he wanted to, the super-computer over-heated and they owned him."
