Everything you're not thinking about for this Sunday's match-up with Green Bay
If there’s one thing we know about Green Bay, it’s that they’re as good at Lambeau as the Pats are at Gillette. Their three losses this season have all come on the road to Seattle, Detroit, and New Orleans.
Unlike most teams that go to Lambeau, the Patriots are well accustomed to the bad weather conditions that Green Bay is known for, and as a Patriots fan, you should be praying for a good snow fall Sunday. Since Belichick took over the team in 2000, the Pats have never lost a game, home or road, where snow was falling. In fact, in games below 34 degrees, the Patriots are almost automatic, sporting a 35-8 record since 1993. The weather forecast in Green Bay this Sunday, 34 degrees and 10% chance of precipitation.
However, Lambeau can offer up horrendous field conditions when the weather turns sour. The field surface is natural grass and has traditionally turned into a mud pit late in the season. The Pats have already played on two natural grass surfaces this season and they lost both contests. Week one in Miami, the Dolphins manhandled the Pats and week four in Kansas City… well we all remember how that one ended. Still, the Pats are a pretty safe bet this weekend.
They are currently a three point underdog at Green Bay, only the fourth time all season that they haven’t been the favorite. The three other times, against Cincinnati (-2.5), Denver (-3), and at Indianapolis (-3), the Pats covered with room to spare. The Patriots have always been masters of the, “Us against the world” mentality going as far back as Super Bowl 36 against the Rams. As 14 point dogs that night, Tom Brady and the Pats shocked the world by beating the high octane Rams.
Belichick’s team remains as dangerous today as they were then with that chip on their shoulder, taking it personally that people don’t believe in them.
