Adam Vinateiri used to play on scout team defense
Indianapolis Colts |
Bill Belichick loves to be prepared. If there is one thing that has been a key to the Patriots success this last decade it has been that they are always prepared for game day.
That preparation starts the week before in practice, with the scout team helping the offense know what to expect out of the other team.
So its no surprise he would use everything at his disposal to replicate the next opponents defense, even if that means using your Super Bowl winning kicker.
Belichick mentions that he used Tom Tupa and Adam Vinatieri in the scout team defense because they were athletic.

That's a cool look behind the scenes. This just shows that Vinatieri did a lot more for those Patriots teams than just making Super Bowl winning kicks.
