Denver Broncos fan shows up after being reported missing

Jesse Paul, Denver Post:
A Kremmling man who disappearing midway through Thursday's Broncos' game was found safe in Pueblo on Tuesday, telling authorities he walked about 118 miles south and slept outdoors during his journey, hoping to avoid recognition.

Paul Kitterman, 53, became the center of national interest as authorities and those close to him searched far and wide for him. The man's family is now asking for privacy.

Police in Pueblo, who found the missing man after acting on a tip, said Kitterman told them he had "his fill of football and decided to go for a walk" and that he wanted to walk "to somewhere warmer."

With no cellphone, no credit cards and very little cash, Denver Bronco's fan had seen just enough football for his liking. Paul Kitterman walked away during halftime of the Thursday night matchup between the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos.

A search party organized by the Denver Police with the local residents was scheduled to search the Sports Authority Field, home of the Broncos. This was called off when Paul Kitterman was found safe on Tuesday.

The hometown of Paul Kitterman is Kremmling, Colorado which lies at the confluence of Muddy Creek, Blue and Colorado Rivers in Grand County, about 100 miles west of Denver. At an elevation of 7,364 feet, Kremmling is located at the junction of Colorado Highway 9 and US Highway 40. The population is 2,062. There are many questions and no answers concerning Paul Kitterman of Kremmling. "Kitterman mentioned sleeping in treed areas and in bushes during his journey to Pueblo and even mentioned disposing of his Broncos hat as he did not want to be recognized," police said. His first and last visit to Sports Authority Field to see the Denver Broncos is bizarre.

I hope Paul's family can sort out the situation and get him the help he needs. If a person were to leave Gillette Stadium and walk 118 miles, he would be in Kennebunkport, ME. That is very strange or unusual, especially so as to cause interest or amusement.
