Darrelle Revis sure isn't avoiding the noise

You know you are good when your opponent targets the spot you just vacated. This was the case in point in the third quarter of the Sunday night game between the New England Patriots and the Cincinnati Bengals. CB Darrelle Revis left the game due to a hamstring injury. Lo and behold, Cinci QB Andy Dalton went right to WR A.J. Green for a 17 yard touchdown pass. Patriots CB Logan Ryan was filling in while Darrelle received medical attention.

Where was the connection in the first half when QB Andy Dalton could only complete two passes to A.J. Green for a measly 19 yards? The first completion gained zero yardage, and the second one was fumbled away after the whole 19. It may make more sense to look elsewhere.

Ben Volin, Boston Globe:
“It was great, man. We did a lot of things game plan-wise where I can be matched up against A.J.,” Revis said after the game. “My thing was just try to get up there and get physical with him and be a fly to him, just try to disrupt him as much as I could.”

Green had four catches for 64 yards against Revis, and drew one illegal contact penalty.

We did watch you play. While you did pile up some good numbers at 16 yards a catch, we were more impressed by the guy who was next to you most of the night.

After four weeks stuck in Chapter One, the Patriot's defense finally turned the page. In Chapter Two, they learned about playing to their strengths. Why not put your best defender on the opponent's best player? Good answer.

The assignments are out for the next four weeks for Darrelle Revis.

1. Sammy Watkins - Buffalo Bills
2. Eric Decker - New York Jets
3. Brandon Marshall - Chicago Bears
4. Demaryius Thomas - Denver Broncos

After you finish those, you can take a week off.
