Patriots blow halftime lead, lose to Dolphins 33-20

The Patriots took a 20-10 lead into the locker room at halftime. The defense played well and forced three turnovers while the offense was able to move the ball and capitalize on the Dolphin mistakes. Rob Gronkowski returned from a torn ACL and caught a touchdown pass from Tom Brady in the second quarter.

But the second half was a completely different story. They were totally outplayed on both sides of the ball, especially on the offensive line.

The poor offensive line play led to heavy pressure on Quarterback Tom Brady. Forcing him to make quick inaccurate throws. The Dolphins also forced Brady to fumble the ball twice.

With the offense stallinging out, the defense was forced to be on the field for an extended amount of time. They were not able to hold the Dolphins offense at bay and the Dolphins were able to score 23 unanswered points in route to a 33-20 win.

The last time that the Patriots lost an opening game was in 2003 to the Buffalo Bills.
