Jets to begin tough stretch
Well, this doesn't look good for the Jets.
The Jets lost to the Bears last night 27-19 at MetLife Stadium and it was pretty brutal. Geno Smith threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown by the Bears' Ryan Mundy on the Jets' opening drive. Smith would later throw another interception in the end zone to Kyle Fuller.
The loss dropped the Jets to 1-2 on the year and in a tie for last place in the AFC East with the Dolphins.
Things aren't going to get any easier in the next couple of weeks for Gang Green, as they square off with the Lions at home this week. They then travel to San Diego to face the Chargers, and then face the Broncos and Patriots in back-to-back weeks.
That's enough to scare a lot of people, especially the Jets, whose issues stem further than just the quarterback position.
That being said, since Smith entered the NFL, he is tied with Eli Manning with 14 interceptions on off-target passes. The running game is also up and down, with Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson showing flashes at times, but are not consistent. New York lost its No. 1 target as well, as Eric Decker left in the first quarter of last night's game with a hamstring injury and did not return.
Aside from Smith's struggles, the Jets were burned multiple times on deep ball passes to Alshon Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall. No one really knows when No. 1 cornerback Dee Milliner will return, so the Jets have had to rely on the likes on Antonio Allen and Darrin Walls.
Rookie wide receiver Jalen Saunders muffed a couple of punts, one of which was recovered by the Bears' Ahmad Dixon and led to a touchdown.
The one constant that the Jets have is a disruptive front seven led by Muhammad Wilkerson. They're in the top 10 in passing yards allowed per game (9th) and rushing yards (1st). Despite their offensive inefficiencies, the Jets defense is good enough to keep them in some games.
Going up against four quarterbacks in a row with winning track records and the ability to put up big numbers (yes, even Brady, once the offense gets its act together), is still a daunting task for any defense.
I see the Jets going 1-3 at worst, 2-2 at best during this stretch. But I hope I'm wrong and they go 0-4. I've got my eye on that Thursday night match up at Gillette, big time.

On the bright side, Jets fans, you get Stafford, Rivers, Peyton and Brady the next four weeks.
