It's raining yellow flags

If you thought the flags were going to stop, you haven't been paying attention. According to Mike Pereira, there have been 14 illegal contact penalties, an average of 1 a game. If that pace holds, then we'll have 256 illegal contact penalties by seasons end. Compare that to 52 last year. Yikes. 200 more illegal contact penalties than last year if this holds. The No Fun League seems to have arrived for good.

That's not a good sign for the NFL if this keeps up. 200+ more illegal contact penalties will make the NFL almost unbearable to watch the rest of the year. Now, it remains to be seen whether this pace is maintained, but I think it will, which means plenty of soft penalties before years end.
