TC Report: Williams, Siliga missing; light practice as teams prep for game action tomorrow
By all accounts todays practice was a glorified walk-through, with both teams looking visibly taxed from yesterday's highly competitive practice. It is typical that teams take it down a couple notches in the day leading up to the first preseason game.
Attendance:
The only notable items coming out of today's practice were on the injury front, for both squads. The Patriots were missing DT Sealver Siliga, who injured his hand in yesterday's practice and was later spotted wearing a hard cast on it. Also sidelined was tight end DJ Williams, who was rolled up on yesterday at practice. This is noteworthy because he was the team's primary tight end this week, with Gronk and Hoo-man back in Foxborough rehabbing from their own injuries. Having not even played one preseason game, the team's lack of depth at the position is already beginning to show. If Williams cannot play tomorrow, we will get a good look at 6'8" undrafted free agent Justin Jones, who found himself in a much different professional setting this time last year, as was pointed out on Twitter (see below). Paging Dustin Keller/Tony Gonzalez?
A couple of the Redskins offensive stars appear to be suffering from ailments as well. Go-to wideouts Desean Jackson and Pierre Garcon were both limited by injuries today. If they are sidelined for tomorrow night's game, whatever time the first units get could be a lot less exciting. Last preseason, Desean Jackson burnt Aqib Talib for a long touchdown pass from Michael Vick. Potentially seeing him test newcomer Darrelle Revis in the early stages of tomorrow night's game was something all fans were likely looking forward to. For now, it appears we can put that showdown on ice.
Here is a complete list of the Patriots players who were missing from practice today (via Boston.com):
- WR Aaron Dobson (foot, PUP)
-DB Jemea Thomas
- RB Tyler Gaffney (meniscus)
- RB Brandon Bolden
- TE DJ Williams
- LB Cameron Gordon
- TE Michael Hoomanawanui
- LB Ja'Gared Davis
- C Bryan Stork
- OL Chris Martin (unknown, NFI)
- DL Dominique Easley (knee, NFI)
- WR Jeremy Galon (unknown, PUP)
- TE Rob Gronkowski
- DL Sealver Siliga
Not much else to note from camp today, as it was apparently a non-competitive affair.
After a week of joint practices during which the Patriots apparently thoroughly outplayed the Skins, the teams will now enter their final stages of preparation for Preseason Game #1 tomorrow night.

These guys are moving slowly today. Yesterday's practice took a chunk out of both teams, I think

Third-year DT Sealver Siliga, who left practice Tuesday and had a black cast/wrap over his left hand, is not practicing this morning.

TE D.J. Williams, who was rolled up on in Tuesday's practice, not dressed for this morning's practice. Wearing sleeve on right leg.

Sounds like DJ Williams not practicing today. If he can't go tomorrow, we could get a long look at 6-8 undrafted rookie TE Justin Jones.

With the DJW injury our #1 TE is now 6'8" 275lb UDFA Justin Jones. Was selling suits all last year at @JosABank. So there's that. #Patriots

DeSean Jackson just came off the field. Tweaked his ankle during light 11-on-11 work. He's with the trainers now.

So it looks like DeSean Jackson (ankle) and Pierre Garçon (hamstring) won’t play for Washington tomorrow night

Practice ends. Light walkthrough. No point charting passes because no one was competing. Easy transition into tomorrow.
