Robert Griffin chats with Tom Brady, hopes to sit down with him at some point

The Patriots will be practicing with the Redskins for the next couple of days. They kicked things off today and Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III got a brief chance to talk to the legendary Tom Brady.

It's a clash of the old and new. Brady's style representing the traditional pocket quarterback. Griffin? He's heralded in the new dawn of the speedy quarterback, along with players like Cam Newton and Colin Kaepernick - who can make plays with their feet as much as their arms.

Still, its the wisdom of the old guard that Griffin hopes to take away from the next few days. At least at some point.

NESN:
“I got a chance to talk to Tom. He’s been saying that he’s been in the same offense for 15 years, which is astounding. That’s amazing,” the Redskins quarterback said Monday in Richmond, Va., after practice, per The Boston Globe. “(He) said this is only my third year, said I have a lot of football left in me, and that’s great coming from a guy like him. I appreciate that. Hopefully I get a chance to sit down with him if he’s not too busy. We’ll both be watching a lot of film and getting ready for tomorrow’s practice. Hopefully I get that chance.”

It's interesting that Griffin was so amazed by Brady being in the same system for 15 years. Of course, that is incredibly uncommon in the NFL. RG3 himself is only entering his third year in the league but already will be learning a new offensive system with coach Jay Gruden taking over.

It could do RG3 a lot of good to learn from Brady, as it was his scrambling style that ended up getting him into trouble. He made many highlights in his first year in the league with his running ability but ultimately it cost him a torn ACL and a lost season in 2013.

Still, he won't be watching Brady like a hawk in practice, he has plenty on his own plate.

“That’s not really time for us to watch him like we’re at a zoo and try to figure out things that they’re doing,” Griffin said. “I will evaluate them because that’s what quarterbacks do, but at the same time, I’m still focused on what we’re doing as an offense.”
