Report: Tom Brady 'very upset' with Logan Mankins trade
We heard reports yesterday that star offensive guard Logan Mankins being traded to Tampa Bay was not very popular in that Patriots locker room.
The mood after practice was like someone had just passed away, with some players refusing to speak about it and others getting a little choked up. We also heard a report that players were 'pissed' that one of the most well respected leaders on the team had been traded.
Among those players, apparently, was Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Jason Cole in Bleacher Report video:
Surely, Brady likely had a strong a bond with Mankins as anyone. The offensive line's responsibility is keeping the quarterback upright, and they take great pride in that. Mankins, especially. How many times did you see the tough enforcer taking it to defenders trying to get at Brady after the play?
Brady of course has been through this before, most notably with Lawyer Milloy all those years ago. He was one of Brady's best friends on the team and he was traded just before the 2003 season started. The Patriots did end up winning the Super Bowl that year however.

There's usually a very special bond you have between offensive linemen and quarterbacks...
Brady initially was very upset about this trade, we'll see how he reacts going forward. Ususally he finds his calm after a day or two.
Other players on the team were also a little bit concerned about 'what is the direction, necessarily?' I think there is some understanding the team needed a tight end but why would you necessarily give up a player of this caliber for a short term fix at tight end?
