Jets CB Dimitri Patterson is AWOL

Darrin Gantt, NBC Sports:

Disappearing cornerbacks are something of a trend with the Jets in recent years, but this is a new turn even for them.

According to Dom Cosentino of NJ.com, Jets cornerback Dimitri Patterson did not show up for Friday’s preseason game, and hasn’t communicated with the team since then.

General manager John Idzik told reporters Patterson has not communicated with the team since then.

The 31 year old Patterson is with his sixth NFL team. Dimtri has made stops in: Washington, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Miami. He has never stayed with any of these teams for more than two years.

Randy Lange, NYJets.com:
"Can I start with the Jets?" he mused. "It's an opportunity, yes. Nothing's guaranteed in this league. But there's an opportunity there, so I'm excited about that in itself. Coming in as an undrafted free agent, those opportunities don't happen more times than not. That's just the reality of this business.

"But I've been with a number of teams and I can say that every place I've been, I've held my own, I've displayed my talents. I'm excited about where I'm at right now, I have a lot left in my tank physically, and I'm ready to show that."
Patterson is the kind of player fans can root for as he begins to attack his newest opportunity, this one in green and white.

The Jets are very thin at cornerback with CB Dee Milliner out with an ankle sprain and CB Antonio Allen coming off a concussion. It is mysterious that Dimtri Patterson is not in camp.

There have been rumors that he is physically fine, and may return on Monday. Stay tuned. No jokes about the J-E-T-S. This is a serious concern for Dimitri Patterson.
