Duron Harmon, your unofficial starting strong safety, according to Patriots depth chart
The biggest question coming into camp was just who would be the strong safety next to Devin McCourty. As much as we talk about how great this secondary could be this season, that's a pretty big question mark to have.
The de facto player has always been second year man out of Rutgers, Duron Harmon. Harmon flashed great potential last season, and with Steve Gregory released in the off-season, there really isn't anyone else to fill his shoes.
Sure enough, Harmon is listed as the starter on the team's unofficial depth chart.
Of course, this does not mean that much, for Harmon or any of the other players listed above. It is August 5th. The team plays their first game September 7th. A lot can happen, and Harmon is by no means a lock to hold down that spot.
Still, the safety competition seems relatively weak: Tavon Wilson, Patrick Chung and Nate Ebner? It's difficult to see any of them rising up to claim Harmon's spot.
Everything else seems aligned with what you would expect, with little changes from last season.
