Ben Hartsock cut without playing game for Patriots

He may have had time for a coffee, though probably not one of those fancy Starbucks ones that takes a while to make. According to several sources, including Aaron Wilson, the Patriots have cut the veteran tight end:

Many people have mentioned that it leaves the position thin, while others are hopeful that it means the team will bring in a bigger name tight end to join Rob Gronkowski in the starting lineup. Personally, I think it was an extended look at a player to keep on the radar in case their roster tight ends get hurt. That doesn't mean I'd rule out a signing of Dustin Keller or the "retired" Tony Gonzalez, but this isn't a sign either option is an imminent signing.
