Andy Dalton signs 6 year extension and the money will stun you

Normally I'd try to lead in with some quip or comment before throwing a tweet out there, but there is nothing more attention grabbing than that 115 million dollar mark. For those who aren't math majors, that's an average of a touch over 19 million a year. While we all scoffed at Joe Flacco being a twenty million dollar quarterback, Dalton's new deal may signal that a player like Flacco is underpaid at $20 mil/yr. Needless to say, I'd bet Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck are salivating at numbers like this. While the guaranteed money is what matters in the NFL (and that information isn't out there quite yet), it's not like they're moving on from him in the next three years of that deal. While I agree people overreact to the total money in a deal, that is such common fact that they undervalue the total money now. He's going to make the first few years at least plus any guaranteed money from later years, so let's not pretend this isn't a huge payday.

I'd give you a long explanation of my opposition to this kind of ridiculous money, but I think that putting a Patriot spin on it by giving you Scott Zolak's reaction is far better.

Does Dalton deserve anywhere near this money, or is he a product of A.J. Green's talent? Let's chat @TheFib0624
