The Patriots were back out on the field this morning lets check out what happened today.
Who's back and who's not
Gaffney, Cam Gordon, Hooman, Skinner, Stork, Chris Martin missing at Pats practice. Dobson, Jemea Thomas, Easley, Gallon here, not in uni.

Josh Boyce also has returned to Patriots practice. He too is in uniform.

Its good to see that Josh Boyce is back and looking like he'll be a full participant. Matthew Slater's return seems to be flying under the radar but is important nonetheless.
Linebackers doing work
One thing the Patriots have lacked in recent years is a good cover LB. James Anderson was added to fix that problem and Jaimie Collins continues to come into his own. Both seem to be excelling in that cover LB role during camp.
#Patriots have been impressed with coverage ability of James Anderson and Jamie Collins in practice. Frustrating the QBs in prax

James Anderson might be the closest thing to a coverage linebacker I've ever seen. Great hips, fluid and runs well. He's been impressive

Quaterback and Running Backs
The offense seemed to be besting the defense this morning. Especially the Quarterback to Running back combo. Patriots Life was at practice this morning and you can check out our full Twitter timeline here for complete coverage but here is a couple of highlights.
Nice lob by Brady to Roy Finch into the end zone. Over LB Chris White.

Vereen with nice leaping grab over Hightower in corner of the endzond

Ryan Mallet even joined in on the fun and threw a touchdown pass to Shane Vereen over Logan Ryan. It was good to be on the offense unless you were Jimmy Garoppolo, who struggled.
Another tough day for Garoppolo. Was 0 for 4 in 7-on-7s and threw a pick-6 to Butler in 11-on-11s.

The Defense strikes back
While the offense won early the defense began fighting back and besting the offense. Revis especially.
Rookie RB James White with an impressive burst up right side for a long gain. But Revis chases him down, tomahawk chops White to the ground

That seemed to be a turning point. Maybe Revis was getting a little sick of getting beat and seemed to turn it up a notch. You have to like that.
#Patriots practicing 11-on-11 drills backed up against their own goal line. Brady throws over the middle, Revis jumps route for a pick-six

McCourty just stopped Ridley at the goal line and the defense went nuts
— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) July 31, 2014
The defense definitely seems to feed off of each others intensity. As the communication gets better and the more they play together this defense is just going to get better and better. As long as they stay healthy.
Its fun to see the back and forth of both sides of the ball. Not only is it fun to watch but its bringing out the best of both the offense and defense. Brandon Lafell echoed that statement.
Discussing Darrelle Revis on Saturday, Brandon LaFell said, "The harder it is out here every day, the easier it’s going to be on Sundays.”

Practice over
At the end of the day this tweet about sums everything up
#Patriots practice over. Kind of a low-key day with no significant injuries. Revis is still awesome, Garoppolo still struggling
— Ben Volin (@BenVolin) July 31, 2014
No injuries. Revis is good at his job. Garoppolo isn't taking Tom Brady's job anytime soon and football season is getting closer with each passing minute. Can't get much better than that
