On the Bubble: Say hello to Jeremy Gallon

Former Michigan WR Jeremy Gallon is currently buried in a deep Patriots WR depth chart. He was drafted by the Patriots with their final pick in the 7th round (244).

As of today he sits only ahead of Matthew Slater who is a special team Pro Bowler. As it stands right now, Gallon might not make the 53 man team. Although Patriots have eight WRs on the team right now, I really believe Gallon is the most unique weapon on the roster. In my opinion he is a faster version of Danny Amendola. Physical at the point of attack but has the ability to take a screen pass to the house.

Since the Patriots technically don't have deep vertical threats with speed, losing Gallon would be a wasted opportunity.  We have guys with good quickness, like Edelman, Amendola, Boyce. However, not a lot of guys with break away speed. One of the only guys with break away speed is actually Shane Vereen from the RB position.

Don't confuse him as just a speed demon. He has legit good hands and route running ability. Although small in stature 5'8" 185 lbs. Gallon plays big. Although not as strong he does remind me a little bit of a young Steve Smith (Ravens).

Besides big play potential, he had multiple huge games in his college career. In his final year in college he had some game breaking stats.
  • 8 Rec, 184 Yds, 3TD - vs Notre Dame
  • 7 Rec, 95 Yds, 1 TD- vs Penn State
  • 14 Rec, 369 Yds, 2 TD - vs Indiana
  • 10 Rec, 115 Yds - vs Northwestern
  • 9 Rec, 175 Yds - vs Ohio State
These are some big games and all against top programs. They are exactly the type of games Brady is going to need every now and then from his wide receivers. Hopefully in a few weeks from now, Jeremy Gallon is holding down a spot and making big plays for us.
