Kevin Faulk: Pats are a work in progress

Running back Kevin Faulk hosted his charity softball game at Campanelli Stadium last month and spoke about his former team, saying "it's alwasy a work in progress."

Per MassLive.com:
On what he thinks of the Patriots: “It’s always going to be a work in progress. You never know what Bill (Belichick) and them are going to do. If he sees something he thinks his team is going to be good at, he’s going to do it. That’s what he’s doing right now."

Even though the Patriots have made 3 straight AFC Championships, Faulk is correct. That's especially true with the offense - the Pats lost several key players before last season, then one of their stars of last season, Lagarrette Blount, went to the Pittsburgh Steelers after the Pats were ousted by the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game at the end of the year. The Pats rookies will look to improve this year, as Tom Brady will look to them more this season. The Pats will also hope Rob Gronkowski will remain healthy for most of the year, at least for the playoffs. The Pats will have to adjust their running game as well with the loss of Blount, not to mention they made a number of changes on the defensive side of the ball. New additions Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner will have to learn the playbook, but both guys have the experience to make a quick transition. Faulk is particularly correct about the offense, which has gone through a number of changes and key injuries in the past couple of years.

Hopefully, the work-in-progress Patriots can work their way to the Super Bowl this year.
