Rex Ryan comes to defense of Bill Belichick over playbook, blasts Mike Pettine
Best friends? |
A war of words, you say?
Bill Belichick says, "no thank you" but Jets head coach Rex Ryan is all for it.
Earlier today the insignificant notion of the Patriots owning some Jets playbooks hit the airwaves. As with anything these days, it exploded. It's made it's way to both Belichick and Ryan now.
Ryan was very upset with the news and launched into a rant.
Here it is!
Rex on #playbookgate: "One thing I know for a fact: No. 1 I think it's disrespectful to New England."

Rex confirms he gave playbook to Saban when he visited Jets' facility for 4 or 5 days. Says its " ridiculous" to think it impacted games.

Whoa RT @KMart_LI: Rex called it "ridiculous" multiple times...adds "everyone needs to talk to Mike Pettine cause he's got all the answers."
— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) June 19, 2014
RT @RichCimini: Rex says it "ticks me off" for people to insinuate that Pats had an advantage. Rex not happy with Pettine. #nyj

RT @KMart_LI: Rex on Pettine: "I don't understand what he's trying to gain by it." ...#ohboy

Rex also says perception discredits Belichick, whom he describes as a great coach who studies his butt off. #nyj

The Patriots have a reputation for cheating ever since they were caught with a video camera in the wrong spot back in 2007, and so they are accused quite often of sketchy things and it always becomes big news.
Personally, I think this was very admirable of Rex Ryan to come out and defend his fiercest rivals over something that is absolutely absurd. Who knows if the Patriots actually did own the Jets' playbook, but if they did it would not really help them at all. As we said in the previous post on this, you can learn all the same information in the playbook by simply watching film.
