Pats work out former Giants CB Terrell Thomas
This off-season the Patriots have revamped their secondary in a major way adding Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner. These players will join an already solid crew of Alfonzo Dennard, Logan Ryan, and Kyle Arrington. However the team continues to look at available free-agent veterans at the position.
According to ESPN Patriots beat writer Field Yates, the team yesterday worked out veteran corner Terrell Thomas, who has spent his entire career to this point with the New York Giants. Thomas missed all of the 2011 and 2012 seasons with knee injuries, however played in all 16 regular season games for the G-Men last year, starting in seven. Over the course of the year, he accumulated 67 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble.
Originally drafted by the Giants in 2008 in the second round, Thomas had a strong stretch between 2009 and 2010, between the two seasons snagging 10 interceptions and forcing 5 fumbles. A torn ACL and a re-injury to the same knee caused him to miss the following two seasons.
When healthy, Thomas has been a solid player throughout his career and could provide good veteran depth in the secondary, and he would most likely come cheap. This is one to keep an eye on as the Pats continue to browse the veteran free agent market.
