Patriots draft DE Zach Moore, DB Jemea Thomas
The Patriots have used their remaining two sixth round picks, taking defensive end Zach Moore and defensive back Jemea Thomas with the 198th and 206th picks of the draft.
Moore is considered a bit of a raw prospect, but he has intriguing physical attributes. At 6'5", 269 pounds, he's built like a protypical 4-3 defensive end, with a good, muscular build, great length (34" arms) and solid athleticism. He was dominant playing with Division II Concordia, where he was a two-time captain and racked up 33 sacks.
Thomas is a versatile defensive back who projects as a safety at the next level. He's a physical defender who is at his best playing downhill, but his limitations in coverage pushed him down the draft board. It was a little surprising to see him taken before a prospect like LSU's Craig Loston, but perhaps Loston's medical information is more alarming than we know.
The Patriots have one more pick in this year's draft: their own seventh round selection (244).
