Chris Johnson is on the New York Jets now

The New York Jets have continued their trend of bringing in middle of the road veterans to their rebuilding squad, today signing recently released ex-Titans running back Chris Johnson.

Johnson immediately becomes probably their best signing. While his numbers started to dip after running for over 2,000 yards in only his second season, he is still a capable runner who, with a better offensive line and better coaching, could once again turn into a great runner.

Despite what many have viewed as a decline the past four years, Johnson has still rushed for over 1,000 yards in every year he's been in the league.

The knock on him is his indeciveness. He will often dance around waiting for something to develop, before eventually just getting tackled behind the line of scrimmage. This frustrated Titans fans to no end the past few years. That coupled with an inflated salary after a hold out, and you have Chris Johnson in a Jets uniform.

What this gives New York is a legitimate runningback, or at least a better shot at one than Chris Ivory brings.

Rex Ryan has always prided himself on playing a ground and pound style. Unfortunately for him, the Jets have not had a running back capable of giving the team that identity ever since they let Thomas Jones walk after the 2009 season. That ultimately led to them relying a bit more on Mark Sanchez and, well, you know the rest..
