Seahawks cut defensive end Chris Clemons
The Seahawks already re-signed defensive end Michael Bennett and are reportedly talking to Jared Allen. Needless to say, they needed to clear some more cap space.
Seahawks have cut defensive end Chris Clemons, source confirms, already getting calls from other teams

This was a bit of a no brainer, as Clemons was due a massive $9.6 million cap hit. Seattle saves about $7 million with the move, bringing them up to approximately $15 million in space.
Clemons had 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble for Seattle last year while coming back from an ACL tear. Prior to that, he had three straight seasons with 11 sacks, with 7 forced fumbles in that three year span.
At 32, Clemons likely won't get a long-term deal, but he could still help a team as rotational pass rusher. The Jaguars, coached by his former Seattle defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, have already expressed interest, and the Steelers are expected to jump in as well.
Could Clemons be an option for the Patriots as a sub rusher? There is certainly a need for some depth at defensive end to spell the overworked Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich, and the team could certainly use some additional pass rushing punch. However, Clemons is joining an already crowded market of veteran pass rushers, most of whom are competing for the same roles with the same competitive franchises. The Patriots will likely let the market play out, letting the prices return to sane levels, before taking their pick.
