Report: Julian Edelman will test market, doesn't reach deal with Patriots
Reports surfaced this morning that the Patriots had offered receiver Julian Edelman a three year deal to stay in New England. He was given a deadline of 4 pm today (the start of free agency).
Apparently they could not reach a deal, per Adam Schefter, and will move on to test the free agent market.
Patriots and WR Julian Edelman were unable to reach a deal today and he will test the market.

It seems like a situation that is very similar to Wes Welker's last year. Welker was offered an extension prior to free-agency, but rejected it to test the market and eventually ended up settling on a comaparable deal with the Denver Broncos.
Edelman finally came into his own last season with a 105 catch, 1,056 yard and 6 TD year. He's likely to have plenty of suitors in free agency, but if the money is the same as the Patriots offer, he may be willing to come back.
Edelman hasn't ruled out a return to the Patriots. But again, the market will determine how feasible that is. Sides plan to talk more.
