Patriots meets with Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans

The Patriots need another pass catcher, everyone knows that. Whether it is a tightend or a big wide receiver, this issue needs to be addressed. Most analysts are predicting that Jace Amaro of Texas Tech could be the best fit for both the team and the late first round pick that they currently have. There are still other offensive weapons in this draft class though and the Pats are trying to learn more about them, even if the odds of drafting them at #29 are slim.

Wide receiver Mike Evans of Texas A&M reportedly met with Patriots personnel prior to his college team's Pro-Day. Evans stands at 6-foot-5 and 231 lbs, definitely on the larger end of the wide receiver scale. As one of Johnny Manziel's favorite targets, Evans caught nearly 70 passes for 1,394 yards and 12 touchdowns. His size and big play ability are clearly what landed him in the top 15 picks of many analysts' mock drafts.

Though Evans will most assuredly be drafted well before the Patriots' 29th pick, it looks like the team was intrigued enough to meet with him. It doesn't hurt to kick the tires and see what the player is all about. Teams will meet with plenty of players to not only talk to them, but sometimes to see if they posses that 'it' factor that is so highly coveted when transferring from college to professional football.
