New York Jets showing serious interest in Maurice Jones-Drew
Earlier today the Jacksonville Jaguars signed running back Toby Gerhart to a 3 year deal worth $10.5 million, effectively replacing Maurice Jones-Drew. The New York Jets look like the likely landing spot for MJD, as he fits Rex Ryan's like for a hard-nosed running game. In 2009, Ryan signed an aging back, Thomas Jones, who had a similar playing style as MJD, and got the most out of him as he rushed for 1400 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Jones-Drew averaged only 3.4 yards per carry last season as he battled injuries and was apart of the most talentless team in the NFL. I think he'll end up in New York because he can still be an every down running back and Chris Ivory was limited to only 10 games last season. The Jets also have tailbacks Bilal Powell and Mike Goodson on their roster.
