Free agent Dane Fletcher set to visit with Bucs
Steve Milne/ USA Today Sports |
With Jerod Mayo, Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins entrenched as the Patriots starting linebackers, Dane Fletcher wasn't likely to see many starts in New England. As a result, the free agent linebacker is looking for a team with an opportunity for a bigger role.
Bucs remain very active, LB Dane Fletcher will start his visit with them tonight

Fletcher, a defensive end during his days at Montana State, made the transition to inside linebacker and developed nicely into a solid if unspectacular depth option. His finest moment this year came in Week 12 against Denver, when the defense got a noticeable jolt after putting him in for the struggling Dont'a Hightower.
While Bill Belichick has expressed his respect for the hard-working Fletcher, I wouldn't expect the Pats to lose too much sleep over his potential loss, particularly if they can upgrade their speed by adding Wesley Woodyard.
Stay tuned on this one.
