Eagles sign Mark "Buttfumble" Sanchez
In a move that everyone knew was coming, the Eagles have agreed to contract terms with former Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. Terms have yet to be disclosed, but we'll update you once they're reported.
Eagles team doctors had a medical examination of the Sanchize yesterday, and were reportedly satisfied from what they saw from his surgically repaired right shoulder. He's expected to win a competition with another former USC Trojan, Matt Barkley, for the second string job behind starter Nick Foles in Philly.
All buttfumble jokes aside, this move actually makes a lot of sense for both parties. Sanchez proved he's not cut out to be a franchise QB in New York, but his starting experience makes him well qualified to be a solid backup. At the very least, he should be a considerable upgrade from Barkley. From Sanchez's perspective, the chance to be coached up in Chip Kelly's system could be a nice way to rehabilitate his reputation and possibly earn another undeserved chance as a starter down the road.
Now lets all point and laugh at the buttfumble again. It never gets old!
