Steven Ridley had lower fumble rate than Vereen and Blount...

Yes that title is correct though. The fumble rates came out today for the 2013 NFL season, and Ridley had a 1.69% fumble rate. In contrast, LeGarrette Blount had a 1.96% rating and Shane Vereen had a 2.27% rate. Sportingcharts.com gives this explanation for fumble rates:
Fumble Rate is a statistic in football that measures the percentage of rushing attempts that are fumbled. Fumble Rate is calculated by taking the total number of rushing fumbles and dividing it by the number of rushing attempts. Fumble rate uses total fumbles instead of fumbles lost as the recovery of a fumble is generally considered to be random while total fumbles (lost and recovered) is more representative of the rushers ability to hold onto the ball during rushing attempts.
Now they say that the lower the fumble rate, the better the player. But really? Ridley has had his serious problems with the Patriots this year, and it is obvious that he was no where near the best player for the Patriots. Honestly, it is easier to get a lower fumble rating when you are always being sat by Belichick for sucking so much. This stat to me then, has little meaning, as Blount and Vereen should be the two guys who are seriously looked at and given a chance, not slippery fingers Ridley.
