Adrian Wilson will be ready for offseason workouts
Safety Adrian Wilson is on many lists of players who could potentially become cap casualties this offseason. As for the veteran himself, he's just focused on preparing for the upcoming season. Wilson was signed by the Patriots last season for 3 years and $5 million but never got to see game action after an achilles injury landed him on the injured reserved. On the bright side, the former All-Pro will reportedly be ready for official offseason workouts beginning on April 21.
At 34 years old and coming off a serious injury, it seems pretty obvious why a number of analysts are predicting that the Patriots will cut Wilson. As pointed out by writer Darin Gantt (article linked above) though, Wilson will only collect $1.2 million this season which is not a bad price for a savvy veteran that will bring experience and leadership to a young and inconsistent defense. He will more than likely be a package player only contributing in certain situations, but who better to do that than a former All-Pro like Adrian Wilson?
