Eye on the Draft: Kelvin Benjamin

After featuring a pair of TE's yesterday, today the player I see the Patriots having their eye on in the draft is Florida State WR Kelvin Benjamin.

Benjamin is one of the top wide receivers in this year's draft class and rightfully so, Benjamin decided to declare for this year's draft. Benjamin is projected to go anywhere from the 1st-2nd rounds, but watch for his draft stock to improve later as we move closer and closer to the draft.

What Benjamin would bring to the Patriots is world class athleticism, being 6'5 and 234 pounds according to ESPN, Benjamin is a tall threat down the sidelines and on the seam route. Benjamin also has sneaky speed and can run quite well. What makes Benjamin so good is that he's so reliable towards the redzone and endzone as he hauled in 15 touchdowns and 1,011 yards on the season while only touching the ball 54 times (an average of 18.72 yards per catch)!

Strengths: Benjamin, as stated earlier, is a big and reliable threat on the football field. He has great hands and finds the ball well and at it's highest point. He also uses his frame extremely well as he takes very long strides and can get physical at the line.

Weaknesses: While Benjamin does have good speed, he doesn't have elite speed to really create great separation. He's also not the kind of receiver to go over the middle and grab the ball, he is very limited in his route running abilities. Benjamin has been known to drop a few balls as well and Benjamin will be turning 23 years old before the draft in May.
